The Victim's Register
Note: If you do not understand some words in this document, you can find the meanings on the DPP website under ‘Commonly Used Terms’. Please click the Easy Read/Plain English version.
After a defendant has been sentenced, some victims can choose if they want to be put on the ACT Victim’s Register or the Youth Justice Victim’s Register (for young defendants who were under 18 years old when the crime happened).
These registers are safe and private online places to hold victims’ names and contact details who would like information about a defendant after they are sentenced. These defendants can be:
- People who have been sentenced to time in jail
- People who are now being supervised by ACT Corrective Services
If you would like to know more information about these registers, you can contact:
- The Witness Assistance Service (WAS) at the DPP
- The Victim Liaison Officer at ACT Corrective Services
- The Register Administrator at Child Youth and Protective Services (CYPS) (for the Youth Justice Register only)
